'FOREIGN BODY'

AUTHOR: Robin Cook

PUBLISHED: Aug. 8

THE PLOT: When a UCLA medical student discovers that her grandmother has died during a medical tourism operation in India, she goes off to India to investigate the death. While there, she discovers a plot by a large health insurance agency to discredit the private Indian health system and keep more money in its pockets by forcing the patients to pay for costlier operations in the United States.

MY THOUGHTS: The fact that the majority of the novel took place in India provided a welcome, different setting. It is also interesting how Mr. Cook uses characters from his past novels, such as Contagion, and allows them to live on.

However, the ending in the novel is so happy that it is almost sickening.

'DISASTER MOVIE'

RELEASED: Aug. 29

RATED: PG-13

MY THOUGHTS: HANNAH MONTANA, ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS and High School Musical cast are only a few singers targeted in Disaster Movie. To be fair, this movie did force a laugh out of me every now and then, but overall it was awful.

It would seem the makers should have stopped while they were already behind with Date Movie and Meet the Spartans. These types of movies get worse every time. As soon as "Juno" began break dancing on her pregnant stomach and Alvin and the Chipmunks began a screamo song, I was begging for my money back.

'LINCOLN HEIGHTS'

AIRS ON: ABC Family, Tuesdays at 8 p.m., new season premieres tonight

MY THOUGHTS: ABC Family's original series Lincoln Heights is one that once you start watching, you can't stop.

This show follows the story of a policeman who had to move his family into a dangerous part of town, Now, they are facing the hardships and danger first hand. This series also includes a tricky love story, action-packed scenes, and your everyday teenage problems. If you like action, love stories and realistic television shows, you would probably enjoy Lincoln Heights.

GRADE: A
