Historic Augusta's annual fundraiser, Perfectly Aged: Antiques and Wine, is crucial to the group's operations.
"This is one of our biggest fundraisers," Julia Jackson, Historic Augusta's programs and marketing director, said of the Sept. 11 event. "The success of this auction is so important."
Historic Augusta operates the Boyhood Home of Woodrow Wilson and has several other historic preservation projects in the area.
This year's event will be in a new venue -- the River Room at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. It will begin at 6:30 p.m.
The fundraiser features a wine tasting and heavy hors d'oeuvres. There will be live and silent auctions.
Robert S. Brunk, of Asheville, N.C., will be the guest auctioneer.
"Every auctioneer brings new ideas on how to make the event bigger," she said.
The pieces he will auction include a painting, The Letter, by Danny McCaw. Ms. Jackson said another of Mr. McCaw's paintings was part of the auction two years ago and it was a popular piece.
"We are excited to get another one," she said.
Several pieces of antique furniture also will be part of the bidding. They include a Southern pine corner chair from a plantation near Charleston, S.C., and a French Provincial oak wardrobe.
Other items include a shopping excursion to Atlanta. The package features round trip chauffeured service for six, with a champagne brunch. Also part of the day is tea at the Ritz Carlton in Buckhead.
Tickets to the event are $100 per person or $50 per person for those 35 and younger. For more information, call Historic Augusta at (706) 724-0436.
