Neal homers twice in Jackets' victory
In Salisbury, Md., Thomas Neal homered twice and had five RBI to help the Augusta GreenJackets wrap up a eight-game road trip Monday with a 5-2 win over the Delmarva Shorebirds.
Oliver Odle (7-4) worked 5q shutout innings for the win, allowing five hits while walking one and striking out five. Andrew De La Garza picked up his fourth save of the season.

Successor to Uga VI hasn't been chosen
Georgia football fans will be a nation without a bulldog for a while longer.
The Seiler family of Savannah, which has provided the bulldog mascots for the team since 1956, has not chosen a successor to Uga VI , who died June 27.
Frank "Sonny" Seiler said the new dog won't attend Picture Day, a fan event tentatively set for Aug. 16. He said Uga VII will be ready for the season opener against Georgia Southern on Aug. 30.
- Former Charleston Southern player Stuart Lake has been hired as the Buccaneers' baseball coach, replacing Jamie Murray , who held the post for four seasons.
- The USC Aiken women's basketball team will open the 2008-09 season against American International in Orlando, Fla.
The Lady Pacers will be one of eight teams participating in the Disney Division II Tip-Off East Coast Classic on Oct. 31-Nov. 2.
- Kammeon Holsey , a 6-foot-8, 195-pound forward who led Hancock County to the Class A state boys basketball title last year, has committed to play basketball at Georgia Tech.
- Former Florida basketball player Teddy Dupay made an initial court appearance on charges of raping and kidnapping a woman at a Park City, Utah ski resort. He did not enter a plea.

Coble grabs lead at Ga. Women's Open
In Newnan, Ga., former Augusta State women's golf coach Laura Coble shot 3-under-par 69 to grab a two-stroke lead at the Yamaha Georgia Women's Open.
The Augusta resident, who won the event in 2004, had four birdies and one bogey at Canongate at SummerGrove Golf Club. Former University of Georgia golfer Jackie Syzmoniak is in second.
Syzmoniak married Summer-Grove's head PGA professional Tom Syzmoniak in February.
Coble hit 11 out of 14 fairways, 14 out of 18 greens, and took just 29 putts. Her lone bogey was on the par 4 18th hole.
The final round begins today at 7:30 a.m.

Shot putter Hoffa on 'Tonight Show'
Former Lakeside High and University of Georgia shot putter Reese Hoffa will appear The Tonight Show with Jay Leno today at 11:35 p.m. on NBC-Ch. 26.
Hoffa is competing at the Beijing Olympics next month.
- Javelin thrower Breaux Greer has made the U.S. track and field team's 126-member roster. Greer, an eight-time national champion, didn't qualify at the trials.

Newman will leave Penske after season
Ryan Newman , projected as a possible teammate for Tony Stewart on the two-time NASCAR champion's new team, will leave Penske Racing at the end of the 2008 season.
Newman's impending departure was announced Monday in a release from the Penske team. The driver gave no indication where he will be racing in 2009.

Rose pleads guilty to speeding charge
The Chicago Bulls' No. 1 draft choice Derrick Rose pleaded guilty to driving more than 40 mph over the speed limit on an Illinois highway in April.
- Former referee Tim Donaghy made more than 100 phone calls to fellow official Scott Foster at the same time he was providing information to gamblers during the 2006-07 season, Fox News reported.
