You can save gas money and still visit the library this summer as the East Central Georgia Regional Library is offering free audiobook downloads online.
There are more than 70 children and teen audiobooks and more than 150 titles available for adults. Patrons with a valid library card may log on to Georgia Download Destination; www.ecgrl.org and install free software to check out three audiobooks at a time for three days.
"I think it will be more convenient for many of our patrons," said Outreach Librarian Stacy Winchester.
Titles may be downloaded to a PC or MP3 player. Some can be burned to a CD, if it's allowed by the publisher.
Coding causes the audiobook to be unusable after the three-day loan period.
New releases are being added as available.
"It would be great in the future if we have just a ton of titles for patrons to check out," said Mrs. Winchester.
