Children’s home food drive


Churches in the Augusta As­so­ciation of Baptist Churches are collecting food items to donate to the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home in Baxley, Ga.

All kinds of cereal, muffin mix, toaster pastries, instant oatmeal, grits (instant or quick), pancake
mix, syrup, breakfast bars, 100 percent juices and gift cards are needed.

The trucks will load May 19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, May 20 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Lake Park Baptist Church and 2-4:30 p.m. at Martinez Baptist Church and 4-6 p.m. May 21 at Calvary Baptist Church.

The food will be delivered May 22.

Men’s event at Abilene

Abilene Baptist Church will hold The Strength of a Champion Men’s Conference on May 2-3.

The conference will teach men to be champions in their relationship with God, family, friends and others. Guests include Neal Jeffrey, Michael Catt and Ed Litton.

Tickets are $25.

Credit counseling in Aiken

Spoken Word Ministries and the downtown Aiken branch of Wells Fargo will hold a credit counseling workshop at 10 a.m. April 12 at 1219 Edgefield Hwy.

Wells Fargo representatives will discuss ways to improve credit scores and offer information on budgeting and balancing finances.

Cost is $5. Light refreshments will be served.
