Chili fundraiser


St. Stephen’s Ministry of Augusta will hold its inaugural Chili Bowl fundraiser from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday. The local ministry provides housing for low-income or homeless persons with HIV/AIDS.

Eat-in or take-out bowls of chili will be offered from Church of the Good Shepherd, 2230 Walton Way. All orders must be received by 4 p.m. Monday by calling (706) 722-7092 or online at The cost is $8 per person with a handmade souvenir bowl, or $6 per person without.

Singing Cowboy

Dusty Aleman, “the Singing Cowboy,” will perform at Bible Fellowship Church, 3701 Old Peters­burg Road, Martinez, at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Financial Peace U.

The Quest Church, a United Methodist congregation in Martinez, will offer Financial Peace University, the 13-week DVD course taught by Dave Ramsey. Classes begin at 4 p.m. March 18. Call (706) 364-1260 for more information or to register.

Marriage workshop

God’s Blueprint for Your Marriage, a two-day workshop led by Greg and Priscilla Hunt, will be offered at First Baptist Church of Augusta.

It begins with dinner at 6 p.m. Friday, followed by a session from 7 to 9 p.m.

Breakfast will be served at 8:30 a.m. March 10, with a session from 9 a.m. to noon.

THE BILLY GRAHAM Evan­gelistic Association has laid off about 10 percent of its workers, which it says is part of a move to emphasize its online ministry,, and other priorities. The agency said fewer than 50 employees lost jobs. The association, which evangelist Billy Graham started in 1950, spreads the Gospel worldwide.
