Southern Baptists to study restructuring
Southern Baptists approved a study of the denomination's structure this week as part of a push to address declines in church membership and funding.
The measure passed at the group's annual meeting in Louisville, Ky. Nearly 9,000 Southern Baptists attended.
A task force was named to study what was referred to at one point as the "bloated bureaucracy" of the denomination.
Among the 19 members are former Warren Baptist Church Pastor Frank Page and Southern Baptist Convention President Johnny Hunt, the pastor of First Baptist Church in Woodstock, Ga.
The panel's findings will be presented at the denomination's 2010 annual meeting in Orlando, Fla.
