National day of prayer

Psalm 33:22 provides the inspiration for the 58th National Day of Prayer service on Thursday.

The theme of the event is: Prayer ... America's Hope.

Its accompanying verse states, "May your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in you."

The observance began in 1952, after President Truman signed a bill proclaiming the celebration of a National Day of Prayer every year.

The president of MAU, an employment agency with 10 branches in Georgia and South Carolina, expects the number to be even higher this year.
