If someone knocked on your door and presented you with a second chance to pursue your dream career, how would you respond? Would you take it or would you run from it?
Former NFL quarterback Kurt Warner was given that opportunity. In his first attempt to make the NFL, Warner was not successful in achieving that goal and took a job at a grocery store. He was later given a second chance to try out for the St. Louis Rams.
In 2012, Warner’s personal story led to USA Network’s creation of the reality show, The Moment, which Warner is the also the host.
The intention of the show is to give people a second chance to realize their dream careers.
Each person has a mentor who evaluates and critiques his or her strengths and weaknesses and gives guidance.
The people have two weeks to perfect and demonstrate their skills in a final career-related challenge before participating in a job interview that could result in an offer.
As the saying goes: “When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.” Warner was ready, and the opportunity presented itself.
