Spotlight: Luke Amerson

NAME: Luke Amerson

STATS: 16, sophomore at Greenbrier High School

WHAT: Actor, musician and budding church league basketball player

HIS STORY: Luke lives by his motto, "I'm too young to realize some things are impossible." He is all about setting high goals and standards for himself -- and reaching those goals.

Luke is preparing to play the male lead in Greenbrier's spring musical Thoroughly Modern Millie.

"Tap dancing, getting arrested and kissing on stage is hard work for an actor like myself," he said with a smile.

He is anything but a lukewarm actor. He has many productions under his belt, and he wants to pursue a career on stage.

After Luke puts down his script, he travels to his church to pick up a guitar. He leads worship at West Acres Baptist Church's youth services and participates in other faith-oriented activities.

This is Luke's first attempt at basketball.

"Oh, it's great. I mean, I'm on fire 90 percent of the time," he said.

Still, if things go as Luke plans, you'll see him again on stage, on screen and in church, but most likely not on a basketball court.
