About Me

As the day news editor at The Augusta Chronicle, I edit local and national stories, design newspaper pages and write a weekly personal column. I love making stories better, which is what I have done for most of my 30-plus years in journalism, and have a strong background in the English language and newspaper style. Began as a reporter and worked in many positions in Southern newspapers. Have won awards from press asssociations in Georgia and Alabama for stories, editorials and columns (most recently, won top humor column in Georgia's largest newspapers in 2004 and 2008). Grew up on a farm, served nearly five years in the Navy after high school.
