I joined The Chronicle in 1995 and served as day news editor, weekend editor, city editor and community news editor. I retired in August 2011 but returned in May 2012 as a part-time editor on the Metro Desk. I worked as a reporter and editor at newspapers in Tennessee and Kentucky before coming to The Chronicle. I am a veteran of the Vietnam War, where I served as an adviser with a South Vietnamese infantry battalion. I am married with four grown children and four grandchildren.
