Lady Pacers win season opener

USC Aiken finds answers in victory

AIKEN - Questions circling the USC Aiken Lady Pacers’ backcourt received convincing answers tonight in a 55-32 season-opening win over Georgia College.

The Lady Pacers entered the night ranked preseason No. 17 with high expectations leaning on the play of returning forwards Hannah DeGraffinreed and Kayla Harris. But someone had to get the ball up the court and in to the post. Sophomore transfer Brittany Hill filled the void and more in her Lady Pacer debut.

The 5-foot-8 guard, who transferred from Quinniapiac, distributed the ball evenly around an offensive attack that saw 11 different Lady Pacers score. Hill led the home team with five assists and still found room for 10 points, six rebounds and three steals.

Forward Porsha Martin scored a game-high 11 points, and Harris added 11 rebounds.

Shanteona Keys led Georgia College (1-1) with 11 points.
