Diamond Dogs sweep Auburn

ATHENS, Ga. - Matt Robbins broke a 2-2 tie with a two-run home run in the fourth inning to help Georgia complete the sweep of a three-game series with a 6-2 victory over the Auburn Tigers on Sunday.

The Bulldogs (8-11, 3-0 Southeastern Conference) got their first opening sweep in the conference since doing it against Kentucky in 1970. Georgia has now won its last eight games against the Tigers (18-6, 0-3), including a three-game sweep at Auburn last season.

Auburn had taken a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a run-scoring single by Robert Brooks and a sacrifice fly by Andy Bennett.

Rich Poythress had an RBI double in the second and Jonathan Wyatt tripled and scored on Ryan Peisel's single in the third to tie the game at 2-2.

Justin Earls (2-1) worked into the seventh, giving up two runs on seven hits with two walks and four strikeouts. The loss went to Tiger starter Evan Crawford (3-1), who allowed four runs on six hits.
