Obama: Navy Yard shooting ‘cowardly’

President Obama said the shooting deaths at the Washington Navy Yard Monday were a tragedy and the victims were “patriots.”

“We are confronting yet another mass shooting and today it happened on a military installation in our nation’s capital,” Mr. Obama said at the White House. He said the government would do everything in its power to make sure those responsible for the “cowardly act” would be held responsible.

“We still don’t know all the facts,” Mr. Obama said.

At least four people were killed and eight others wounded in the shooting at the Washington Navy Yard Monday morning. Police said one suspect is dead and they are investigating unconfirmed reports that two other gunmen may have been involved.
