Augusta University Merger

The University System of Georgia Board of Regents unanimously approved the merger of Augusta State University and Georgia Health Sciences universities, creating a new comprehensive research university, University System of Georgia officials said Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012.

Implementation will start immediately and is expected to take 12-18 months. The merged Augusta schools will be led by GHSU President Dr. Ricardo Azziz.
