Richmond County Crime

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office is charged with law enforcement duties in the 328 square miles that make up Richmond County, Georgia.

The Criminal Investigation Division is responsible for follow up of all crimes reported to the Richmond County Sheriff's Office, and is broken into six sections: Administration, Motor Vehicle Theft, Narcotics, Property Crimes, Technical Crimes and Violent Crimes.

A Special Operations division consists of six units, including the Crime Suppression Team, DUI Task Force, Motorcycle/Traffic Squad, Weed and Seed Unit, Safety Patrol and Housing Unit Squads.

The Uniform Division consists of a total of 237 certified law enforcement officers work twelve-hour shifts on a permanently assigned beat. Two precincts - North and South - divide up responsibility for law enforcement in the community.
