The six-film Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers returns to the Morris Museum of Art and will open Sept. 14 with Concrete Steel and Paint.

“An important thing to note is the Southern Circuit is the only regional tour in the country,” said Kevin Grogan, museum director.

The films in the series have a broad spectrum of themes, including fiction and one with animation, Grogan said. Some have a tie to the South.

Film creators will take part in question-and-answer sessions.

The museum’s 110-seat auditorium provides the right setting. About 40-50 people attended each film last season. Grogan said this year the museum hopes the series will develop interest from high school and college film classes.

Films in the series are The Wise Kids on Oct. 12, Welcome to Shelbyville on Nov. 16, The Toe Tactic on Feb. 15, A Good Man on March 14 and My Perestroika on April 18. Screenings begin at 6 p.m. Admission is free to museum members and $3 for others. For more information, call (706) 724-7501 or visit www.themorris.org.
