Guitar Pull fans camp out between James Brown Arena and Bell Auditorium. Tickets to the Nov. 19 event go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Guitar Pull veterans Shannon Arthur and her son James, of North Augusta, arrived at about 2 p.m. Sunday and were the first to set up their tents.

“One more night,” Shannon Arthur said. “At 10 o’clock in the morning, I’m out of here.”

James Arthur, who sat in an inflatable lounge chair, said he did it because “my mama told me to” but acknowledged that the experience has been fun. Their tent was set up with TVs, gaming systems, a grill and fans.

Jeff Avret, who set up Monday, agreed. In addition to seeing artists he enjoys, he is helping charity.

The 15th annual WKXC-FM Guitar Pull will feature country artists Sheryl Crow, Darius Rucker, Jennifer Nettles, Florida Georgia Line, Randy Houser and Uncle Kracker. Tickets to the Nov. 19 concert at the civic center are $35 and will benefit the Million Pennies for Kids Campaign.

“You can’t beat that (price) for six artists,” Avret said.

“It’s like a family atmosphere,” he said. “It’s like tailgating. Everybody gets along.”

Julie Clark was camping out for the first time, and eight fellow campers helped her pass the time.

“We’ve had a blast,” said her friend Sheryl Merritt. “It’s been so much fun.”

Campers did have one common complaint.

“You’re guaranteed to be woken up every 30 minutes by the train,” said Wanda Cain, of Aiken.

Other campers nodded and imitated the loud horn that interrupts their evenings.

“All night it’s honk, honk!” Avret said.
