Augusta concert set for August canceled

An Augusta concert scheduled next month and featuring R&B group Mindless Behavior has been canceled.

The All Around the World Tour was set for Aug. 8 at the Bell Auditorium but was canceled after “technical difficulties” caused the southern California quartet to shorten its U.S. tour dates, Augusta Entertainment Complex Marketing Director Katie Wells said in a statement.

Tickets will be refunded beginning Monday.

Tickets bought at the James Brown Arena box office must be shown for a refund. For credit card purchases, the cardholder must present an ID that matches information on the card. Customers who purchased tickets online or by phone will receive a refund within five to 10 business days.

"Technical difficulties" and

"Technical difficulties" and "scheduling conflicts" are usually promoter speak for "We couldn't get enough people to buy tickets..." This is a more and more common occurrence in middle markets like Augusta when it comes to hip hop, R&B and semi-popular hard rock bands that don't have issues in major markets. They just don't have the pull in towns like ours. If it's not country or hugely mainstream artists in other genres, it just doesn't do as well in our area.

Countyman is right

The group did perform in Augusta last year. Here's our preview story from that Mindless Behavior show if anyone wants to know more about who they are -- http://chronicle.augusta.com/things-do/applause/2012-07-25/mindless-beha...

I think they've been here on

I think they've been here on more than one occasion, but I could be wrong. I was just pointing out that those genres tend to have the most trouble getting consistent ticket sales.
