Fake eyelashes add intensity to costume

Halloween isn't just a time to dress up your outfit -- you can up the ante of your costume by intensifying your makeup.

An easy way to do this is by adding fake eyelashes to your attire (as long as you're not dressing up as a zombie or some other character). I spotted some standard ones at Sephora for $8. You can also find them at drugstores.

Badly applied fake eyelashes can look horizontal, uneven or disjointed. But there are a few tricks I've learned about applying fake eyelashes:

Fake eyelashes stick best applied before the rest of your eye makeup.

- Before applying the glue, take the eyelashes and bend them slightly more than the arch of your lashline. This will keep them from spreading flatter, away from your lashline, once applied to your eyelid.

- After applying the fake eyelashes as closely as possible to the line above your natural lashes, make sure you allow the glue enough time to dry before applying makeup.

- Once the glue dries, draw a line of liquid eyeliner to blend the eyelashes in and create a more dramatic look.

- From there, apply the rest of your eye makeup, touching up the eyeliner if needed.
