Here's one fashion trend I never saw coming back until its arrival: clogs.
Like many of you, I wore clogs in the '90s, but they and my corduroy overalls were long gone when I perused the upcoming fall collections of shoes.
I suspect clogs might have the divisive power of rompers, but for feet. They're often trendy rather than flattering, even with this incarnation frequently found with a heel.
I've found some other shoe trends for fall that I think will look great, and even some options that are clog-inspired without looking like you raided My So-Called Life actress Claire Danes' closet.
Instead of Steve Madden's wooden platform clog Emberr, try the Annton. It's a platform, peep-toe oxford that combines the best of the Emberr with another big trend, oxfords.
Nine West's Sydney open-toe bootie with buckles is utilitarian and similar to high-heeled clogs, but with a more flattering, narrow shape. It costs $99.
Other trends I noticed are cage heels, such as Nine West's Noletta (available Dec. 7), and motorcycle boots. You can find cute motorcycle boots cheap at Target. The slouchy multi-buckle boots are only $44.99.
If you're looking for oxfords, Etsy has a large selection of vintage ones, but those might be more expensive than buying new ones from Urban Outfitters.
Several of the cutout and slouchy shapes from last fall are back in style, so try your luck at discount retailers such as TJ Maxx, Ross or Marshalls.
Another spot many local shoppers know is Goody Two Shoes, located at 201 Milledge Road. They won't be the specific new styles, but you can find brand-name, good quality shoes at an affordable price.
