Carlos Santana, who is touring with British singer Steve Winwood, will perform tonight at Chastain Park in Atlanta.

Steve Winwood and Carlos Santana will visit Atlanta's Chastain Park tonight as part of their extremely successful summer tour.

Although more than 5,300 miles separate their homes in England (Winwood) and California (Santana), they share musical sensibilities. Expect hit after hit during the show, which is one of the best pairings in Chastain Park's musical series this year.

Here's a primer of the must-haves from the two longtime members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame:

FIVE ESSENTIAL SANTANA ALBUMS

1. ABRAXAS (1970): Light up the ... incense! Santana's second album gets the nod over their debut. Sure, the Latin-tinged jams that were a mainstay of their stunning performance at Woodstock one year earlier are still in place, but the top-40 hits brought in the big bucks and headlining tours. Key tracks: Black Magic Woman, Oye Como Va, Singing Winds, Crying Beasts .

2. CARAVANSERAI (1972): Somebody's been listening to John McLaughlin! The original band's last major statement. Second guitarist Neal Schon complements Carlos much better on this jazz fusion outing than he did on Santana III . The album had no major hits but, as with Abraxas, is best enjoyed as an entire body of work. Key tracks: Eternal Caravan of Reincarnation, Song of the Wind .

3. MOONFLOWER (1977): Carlos and the band in full-bloom. A two-disc set of studio and live tunes. The band's unexpected cover of the Zombies classic She's Not There garnered the group its first major radio airplay in five years. The jazz-blues influences are back on this terrific set, too. Key tracks: I'll be Waiting, Europa, She's Not There .

4. SUPERNATURAL (1999): It's Grammy time! This very unexpected comeback album featured contributions from Eric Clapton, Dave Matthews, Everlast, Lauryn Hill and Rob Thomas. The marketing of Supernatural was just as brilliant as the music, and the CD sold an astounding 15 million copies in the U.S. alone. Many longtime fans, however, were not impressed with Carlos' calculated commercialism, which veered sharply from his previous work. Key tracks: Smooth, Maria Maria, Love of My Life.

5. ULTIMATE SANTANA (2009): As the old saying goes, "You're never alone with a schizophrenic." The very best from the original group and the Supernatural -era material. Duets from Chad Kroeger, Jennifer Lopez and Tina Turner contrast sharply with the '70s-era band's work that featured original members Greg Rolie, Michael Shrieve and percussionist extraordinaire Chepito Areas.

FIVE ESSENTIAL STEVE WINWOOD ALBUMS

1. TRAFFIC GOLD (2005): Winwood's second major band had so many highlights that only a great retrospective such as this one makes the cut. Dave Mason, Jim Capaldi and Chris Wood were fine accomplices in this Smiling phase of Winwood's career that lasted from 1967 to 1975. How a skinny English kid was able to sing with so much soul continues to baffle fans. Key tracks: Paper Sun, Dear, Mr. Fantasy, Freedom Rider, Low Spark of High Heeled Boys .

2. BLIND FAITH (1969): This one-off LP went straight to No. 1, and then the band broke up. Winwood handles the lead vocals on the disc, including the three songs on the album that he didn't write. Eric Clapton's guitar work is sublime, and Ginger Baker's drumming is absolutely maniacal. Winwood's vocals astound on every song on this treasure of a disc. Key tracks: Well All Right, Can't Find My Way Home, Presence of the Lord .

3. ARC OF A DIVER (1980): Winwood's second solo disc spawned the irresistible hit single While You See a Chance. Arc is a solo album in every sense of the word as the multitalented Brit plays every instrument on it. Key tracks: When You See a Chance, Second Hand Woman, Dust .

4. BACK IN THE HIGH LIFE AGAIN (1986): Winwood's fourth album won several Grammy Awards and had three mammoth hits. On this 5 million-selling outing, Winwood employs crack session musicians including Randy Brecker, Nile Rodgers and Joe Walsh instead of playing all of the instruments himself. Guest vocalists include Chaka Khan and James Taylor. Key tracks: Wake Me Up on Judgment Day, Higher Love, Back in the High Life Again.

5. Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood Live at Madison Square Garden. (2009): This stunning CD/DVD affair illustrates just how good Winwood's chops are even though he had just turned 61. Amazing performances from two old friends who revisit some of their best work. Key Tracks: Glad, Pearly Queen, Split Decision, Had to Cry Today.

See y'all at the show.
