Skating is affordable family fun

Here are deals at two Augusta rinks:

- At Augusta Ice Sports Center, ice skate for $5 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On Sundays, the fee is $7. Sundays are also Family Day: Four or more can skate for $25.

If you can find a large group to enjoy the activity, 20 skaters can participate for $7 each; 30 can skate for $6 each on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

For a birthday party at Augusta Ice Sports Center, the fee is $75 for a group of 10.

Augusta Ice Sports Center is at 1249 Augusta West Parkway.

- Skateland of Augusta, 2451 Windsor Spring Road, has roller-skating deals. Thursdays from 6:30 to 9 p.m. are Family Night. A family of four can skate for $10, including rentals. That's a great price for a night out with the family.

On Saturdays, ages 10 and younger can skate for $4 from 10 a.m. to noon. That includes skate rental. Parents can skate with their children free.
