Grubbin: P.F. Chang's Chinese Bistro

WHERE: 3450 Wrightsboro Road (

WHAT: Sunday lunch for five

AMBIENCE: Blond wood and sunshine make for a relaxed dining area. Adult album alternative music is played loudly enough to drown out conversations of nearby diners without disrupting the talk at your table.

THE FOOD: Traditional American Chinese restaurant with a twist

WHAT WE HAD: Lunch bowls of pepper steak, beef with broccoli, Buddha's Feast and moo goo gai pan; lemongrass prawns with garlic noodles; hot and sour soup, egg drop soup; Chang's wedge salad

THE GOOD: The lunch bowls ($7.50, $8.50) are reasonably priced and filling. Chang's serves brown rice, a more healthful alternative to the fried rice or white rice offered at other Chinese places.

THE NOT SO GOOD: The restaurant ran out of hot and sour soup for one member or our party, a cardinal sin. Also, the chef was overgenerous with the sauces, drowning the bowls and overpowering the palate.

THE SERVICE: Prompt, personable and efficient without being intrusive

OVERALL: Great waiters, nice presentation and comfortable atmosphere, but a few miscues with the food. Still, perfectly serviceable and worth a return visit.
