The River House Restaurant , which serves American and Thai cuisine, has opened at the former location of B.C. Davenport's, 301 Georgia Ave., North Augusta.
The restaurant's diverse lunch menu includes English fish and chips ($9), fried shrimp ($12), grilled New York strip ($14) and hamburgers, which are $7 or $8 and come with coleslaw and waffle fries. Appetizers range from $5 for Maryland crab soup to $10 for shrimp cocktail.
The Thai menu includes pad Thai ($10, rice noodles with shrimp, eggs, ground peanuts and bean spouts), pad priew whan ($10-$12, beef, chicken or seafood stir-fried with mixed vegetables in a garlic sauce) and pad kra prow ($10-$12, beef, chicken or seafood stir-fried with green chili peppers, onions and basil). Appetizers range from $3 for the spring rolls to $7 for naam sod (ground pork with ginger, onions and peanuts in a spicy sauce).
Co-owner Kanogkarn Cohen, who also co-owns Mai Tai Restaurant in Evans, said River House will hold its grand opening after it gets an alcohol license.
The hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily and 5 to 10 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
