Pops! Under the Stars to close Symphony season

The annual Symphony Orchestra Augusta’s Pops! Under the Stars will return to Evans Towne Center Park on Saturday, May 11, the second year the concert has been held at Lady Antebellum Pavilion.

Gates open at 4 p.m., with a “petting zoo” in which children can see and touch musical instruments. The orchestra will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free, with tickets for a VIP table for six people available for $250. VIP privileges include wine and finger foods.

Maestro Shizuo “Z” Kuwahara, music director of Symphony Orchestra Augusta, will lead what is considered as the final performance of the season.

Pop Rocks: Augusta, my Christmas wish list has one thing

My family often accuses me of being a difficult person to Christmas shop for. While it is true that my tastes run toward the particular and tend to lean heavily on easy-to-wrap standards such as books and records, I believe that as I get older, I’m less concerned with the item than the idea. Give me something I believe you have thought about and carefully considered, and I’m happy. The present clearly purchased at the drug store the day before is met with considerably less enthusiasm.
