COLUMBIA COUNTY CHORAL SOCIETY is seeking applicants for the position of artistic director/conductor.
After leading the choir for nearly two years, Timothy Powell has stepped down to spend more time with his family. Powell also serves as director of choral activities at John S. Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School and music director at Woodlawn United Methodist Church.

“PLEIN ART PAINTINGS” from Aiken area artists is on display through June 29 in the Aiken Artist Guild Gallery of the Aiken Center for the Arts. A reception will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 21. Artists in the exhibit include Carol Sue Roberts, Sharon Taylor Padgett, Corrine Kenney, Ann LeMay, Sally Donovan, Al Beyer, Mary Alice Lockhart, Jane Popiel, and Barbara Walcher.
THE LUCY CRAFT LANEY Museum of Black History’s annual photography exhibition is on display through July 31. The exhibit features the work of photographer David Leigh, whose images document some of the historically significant areas of the historic Laney-Walker district. PHOTO CONTEST: Entries are being accepted through Aug. 1 for the Augusta Photo Festival 2012 Photography Competition. FILMMAKING CAMP: The Paine College Department of Media Studies, Milan Media, Fabulous Events and Blue Bistro Performing Arts Academy will present a TV and Film Summer Camp for children ages 8 to 17. Campers will be introduced to acting, directing, writing and producing in film, television and theater.
