'Experimental Relief' is theater with a cause

Zac Latham and Michael Mackay rehearse for one of the short plays being presented during Experimental Relief this week at the University of South Carolina Aiken. Each of the five short plays is directed and cast by students.

USC Aiken’s University Theatre is bringing Experimental Relief back to the stage this week. The event consisting of five short plays will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Feb. 16-17, and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 18-19, at USC Aiken’s Etherredge Center O’Connell Theatre.

Three of the short plays were written by established playwrights and two were written by University Theatre players. Each production is directed and cast by students. Experimental Relief is designed to showcase the talent of USC Aiken students and also support a worthy cause.

This year’s production will benefit Aiken Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Guests are encouraged to donate pet-related items. For more information, call (803) 641-3305 or visit www.usca.edu.
