Program offers museum pass

I f you love to visit museums, the Museums on Us program is offering free admission to 150 museums and cultural destinations across the country during the first full weekend of every month through December.


The free admission is available to debit or credit cardholders with Bank of America/Merrill Lynch, according to a release.

Participants in the Museums on Us program include national and regional art museums, science and history museums, zoos, aquariums and gardens. In Georgia, patrons can visit the Atlanta History Center and High Museum of Art in Atlanta.

Other participating Georgia museums include the Telfair Museums in Savannah and the Booth Western Art Museum and Tellus Science Museum in Cartersville.

In South Carolina, EdVenture Children's Museum in Columbia is participating in the Museums on Us program.

To qualify for Museums on Us, customers simply present their Bank of America/Merrill Lynch credit or debit card along with a photo ID to gain one free general admission.

The offer is not valid for special exhibitions, fundraising events or ticketed shows.

THE AUGUSTA AREA also has museums that offer an educational and cultural experience for a low price.

- At the Augusta Museum of History, admission is $4 for adults, $3 for seniors and $2 for children ages 6 to 18. Admission is free for children ages 5 and under.

The museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. The Augusta Museum of History is at 560 Reynolds St., (706) 722-8454.

- The Morris Museum of Art offers free admission on Sundays and discounts for students, military personnel and seniors. With a valid ID, students, military and seniors (ages 65 and older) pay only $3. Regular admission is $5 for adults, $3 for youths ages 13 to 17 and free for children ages 12 and younger. Museum members also receive free admission.

The Morris Museum of Art is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. The museum is at 1 10th St., (706) 724-7501.
