Business Licenses: More than a dozen people file for a business license in Richmond County every day. Pick up a Sunday business section to find out who's opening what and where.
Someone who is deeply committed in moving Augusta forward and will stand up to the commissioners that are in office now, they have cost Augusta millions of dollars with no industry coming here because of their asinine behavior.
-P. Dobie, Augusta
I missed the vote, but had I voted, I would have written in C.W. "Buck" Tinley.
-S. Roney
I believe James "cotton" Flynn should be mayor of Augusta, Ga because of his extensive knowledge of business and people! He has served the community for almost 30 years and one of the last people who believes in the economic developement in south augusta.
-rfgotier, Augusta
A God fearing man or woman can help put Augusta back together again. It's time that Christians come together to make a difference in this beautiful city.
-G. James, Augusta
Since our commission cant see anything beyond black and white the last thing we need is Marion Williams in the Mayor's seat. He seems to be happiest when stirring up race issues where there are none. I vote for Jimmy Atkins, he is doing great with Lark and the school board so maybe he can lead the commission to a "gray" area, it could only help.
-Shannon, Martinez
Not one of the current slate of Commissioners if qualified and if you don't get rid of them all you may as well fold up the City Charter and make a paper airplane ...where's Moses Todd when you need him ...? ...from a thankfully ex-Augusta resident. -G. Taylor, Bentonville, AR
Helen Blocker-Adams is qualified in every way to hold this office and move us toward a bright tomorrow. She will never be an embarassment to our city, and will bring a magic and prescence and comaradrie that is her unique talent. -D. Tudor, Augusta
Somebody from out of state that has some clue of politics and how to run a government..... -Joel C., Evans
Marion Williams should continue as mayor, why bring in new blood now.
It will only slow down Augusta's progess. We are dragging are tails enough now!
When the new election comes up that's when we bring in nw blood, new ideas. -R. Johnson, Augusta
Whomever the commissioners appoint as interim mayor, should be someone who isn't interested in campaigning for the position.
I recommend James Kendrick, a solid individual who is really concerned about the future of our city. James is a proven leader who has worked with various community organizations and all citizens. -T. Williams, Augusta
James Brown -B. Beard, Augusta
I am glad to see mayor young leaving..i feel that he nor larry sconyers done much of anything to improve augusta..which is my lifetime home...i would really like to see Charles Devaney back in office..i feel that he went above and beyond to better augusta..i think larry sconyers was a joke and i feel the same way about bob young..i would also love to see Lake Olmstead made accesible to the public again..so that we could ride thru and fish from the docks..myself along with many many others that have physical problems that prevent us from the long walk thru to do anything there..i understand it was closed to cut down on drug activity but i don't feel that made a difference...the drugs will be here long after our generation has came in gone..anything that is my take on things -A. Johnson, Augusta
Can't see anyone else to run it right Troy B., Grovetown, Ga
This radio host has a way of bringing politics to the youth of augusta. He goes about it in a joking manner which opens the eyes of young people to the problems astray in Augusta. I think he would be a good mayor. Jeff S., Evans, Ga
If he really runs, no doubt my choice. He will tell it like it is. Thieu N., Augusta, Ga
I want a great looking mayor! Joyce R., Augusta, Ga
I can't wait to volunteer! Robbie M., Augusta, Ga
Following Young's footsteps....radio to politics!!! Horace B., Augusta, Ga
I would move to Augusta!!! Serena M., Aiken, SC
Mr. Zeh is in touch with the whole community. Not just this section or that section, but the entire community. Jonathan B., Augusta, Ga
He already owns a key to the city from outgoing mayor...I want him to have all the keys!! Luke E., Augusta, Ga
I will move to Augusta if he is elected! Rebecca B., North Augusta, SC
He's got my vote if he really does run!!! Eddie S., Augusta, Ga
Time to have a funny mayor! Scott G., Augusta, Ga
Austin Rhodes
He knows Augusta politics better than then the politicians do. Chris
He would be good. Sharon, Evans, Ga
He has a good bit of knowing whats going on than some others do. Thanks and good luck Randall H.
I believe that Augusta could use someone as Mayor that isn't afraid to speak their mind and is not intimidated by our commissioners. Augusta "needs" change and we will not have it until the system we have in place now gets some shaking up and Austin Rhodes would be just the man to do that. Rhonda, Augusta, Ga
He tells it like it is. Howard E.
Knows all so why not? John K., Evans, Ga
Who else knows Augusta better and could solve all its problems. Marty G., Evans, Ga
This will give him a chance to practice what he preaches.... A. Muza
Now THAT is a man that will get things done!!Julie, Augusta, Ga
Charles DeVaney
I can't believe you left Charles DeVaney off the list. (Did someone say Prejudiced?) As Mayor, DeVaney brought a lot of class to this burg. Dashiel, Atlanta, Ga.
He has been mayor before and I feel like he is intelligent and qualified. Charles D.
Why not? M. Davis
By far the best mayor augusta has had since i moved here in 1973 Tom M., North Augusta, SC
Willie Mays
Mr. Willie Mays is best qualified and experienced to handled the city's business. C. Bullock, Augusta, Ga.
Mr. Mays is a very fair person, and in alot of ways he has earned that spot, he will get the job done..The city of Augusta needs new leadership anyway, and he is the one to change things here. Yolanda F., Augusta, Ga.
Don Grantham
I know Don to be a good Christian man, and as far as I know, doesn't have any dirty laundry he's trying to hide. Dave P.
Maj. Gen. Janet Hicks
I think Janet Hicks could kick everyones butt on the Commission and may keep these people in line!!! Go Janet! Karen, Augusta, Ga.
Linda Beazley
Linda is an intelligent, competent woman proving her success in all her previous positions. I feel she would provide capable direction for the County Commission and hopefully restore some dignity and respect to the City of Augusta. Janice S., Augusta, Ga.
Linda was a proven dedicated hard worker for the county for many years. She is an outstanding citizen and very knowledgable with the people of Richmond County. She would not be prejudist but would show profressionlism in every aspect of her job. Linda would get the job done!! D. Hendrix, Martinez, Ga.
Linda is a sophisticated, intelligent woman having performed capably in every position she has ever held. She would not have a vote but I think she would kick some posteriors overtly or covertly if necessary, and is perfectly capable of doing so. I feel Linda could restore some dignity and respect to the City of Augusta. Augusta needs Linda Beazley! Janice S., Augusta, Ga.
Marlow McIntyre
Son of former Mayor, the late Ed McIntyre. Julie B., Atlanta, Ga.
Daffy Duck
No one and I mean no one will ever be able to do anything with this disfunctional commission in place. It is sickening to even hear Augusta businness on the news because nothing ever gets done , So my pick of Daffy duck will be at least entertaining. Stanley S., Blackville, SC
Michael Jackson
I nominate Michael Jackson, because he is probably the only person on whom the racially divided Commission can agree. He may also just be crazy enough to accept the job. Joe M., Augusta, Ga
