The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two men in connection with the shooting death early today of 16-year old Brandon Desean Taylor.

Brandon Ira Le’Keith Helm, 18, of Warwick Place in Hephzibah, and Darian Deandre Postell, 19, of Thames Place in Hephzibah are charged with one count each of murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, sheriff's Lt. Scott Peebles said. Both men are being held at the Richmond County jail without bond.

The incident is believed to have resulted from an altercation Monday evening in which Helm and another man were shot at while walking through Pepperidge subdivision. No one was hit, but it is believed that Helm, who is identified as the shooter, was retaliating against Taylor. Postell is believed to have accompanied Helm to the incident location and disposed of the weapon afterward.

The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are possible, Peebles said.

The shooting happened at 2:16 a.m. at a home at 3411 Monte Carlo Drive in the subdivision near Peach Orchard Road, police said.

The fatal shooting was the second this week. On Sunday 22-year-old Sergio Campbell was shot multiple times outside the McDonald’s at 2624 Deans Bridge Road.

Four people were arrested in connection with that fatal shooting and more arrests are expected to follow, according to investigators.

He has his moments, but I

He has his moments, but I think he can fight just as hard for equality in general as he does for the rights of blacks. Don't come around just then, come all the time. He can pick up where Dr.King left off.

Racism will eventually be

Racism will eventually be overcome, but not by legislation or even education. The solution lies not with white americans but with black Americans. Remember the movie The Tuskegee Airmen? The bomber pilot from Texas refuses to accept his tail was saved by black fighter pilots until the end of the movie when he specifically requests the 332nd to fly escort on his mission. The reason he gave was " They ain't never lost a bomber" It was their courage, professionalism and track record that overcame his prejudice. There is your challenge HEWatches, can you and your friends stand on the shoulders of those giants of the 332nd Air Group?

Those are some big shoes to fill. I work hard every day to grow more and more, so that I can leave a mark when I am gone. I have not reached 30 yet, but God willing, I will have time to do just that. I like you, you seem very fair and open.

If they are shipped out of

If they are shipped out of the country, they will become someone else’s problem and later on down the line American troops will be sent over to fight them to gain them back and with the justice system they will be back out on the streets in no time to be sent back out of the country. Sorry, I went to deep. I need to go to bed but I am still bothered by that smile on that mug shot.

KSL I don't think anyone

KSL I don't think anyone minds hearing the truth, even if it is not PC. Its the broad generalizations that bother me. But there is no need in any of us black or white thinking that we can ignore the big elephant in the room. Eventually the "smell" will get to you. We have a problem. Did welfare do it. I don't know. I do know that I don't live in the projects nor am I close to the projects and kids from my neighborhood are going to jail for murder, armed robbery, etc.

To all of the ones who made comments about the parents I know Mr.Helm but not as well as i know Mr.Postell Indeed this is sad and justice needs to be served but the Postell's brought their son up well. Sometimes u dont know wat ur kids have in their heads. Im sure they didnt know that Mr.Postell was even out of the house. You cant down talk the family these 2 young me are the bad guys not their parents.

How sad and unnecessary for

How sad and unnecessary for this 16 year old to loose his life. How sad and ridiculous that 18 and 19 year olds have no respect for theirselves or others or life in general but unfortunatley this entitlement society which our government is creating enables these and many other youths to feel this way. These guys deserve the death penalty as does anyone of any adult age no matter their race or sex - violent criminals, especially murderers should be put to death quickly upon conviction as they are a blight on society and a waste to the taxpayers. Young black men specifically have become the most violent of all races/sexes in our country and since most will not listen to authority, especially comming from other races, the black community leaders better step up or they will continue to loose thier youth to death and incarceration. Instead of continually rallying against authority such as the police, why not use the money, time and energy to educate, enlighten and make the youth of America better. Start holding people accountable for their actions vs. enabling them including their actions at young ages within school, the home and communtiy. Enough is enough already!!

Asitisinaug....very well said. I understand about the death penalty and taxpayers money, but I have mixed feelings about the death penalty. I used to believe firmly in it but overtime, my thoughts have become mixed.

I agree with both of you,

I agree with both of you, Kadinsmom and asitis. But it is going to take more than just the leaders in the black community. It is going to take leaders and future leaders from all walks of life.

A profound example of what

A profound example of what can be done is the story of David Wilkerson and Nicky Cruz. The Cross and The Switchblade. (although I don't know if I could have persisted as David Wilkerson did. But I guess I didn't have HIM speaking in my ear.) I believe the movie was recently remade, I think it would be a good movie for young teens to watch.

I wonder if Darian Postell is

I wonder if Darian Postell is related to Bondrae Lachance Postell, 18, of the 2000 block of Mims Road in Hephzibah, who was charged with armed robbery, possession of a firearm during commission of a crime and theft by receiving stolen property recently.

richmond county government

richmond county government case management shows that a postell matching the same name had a January 2008 case of Carrying a weapon on school property (which was nolle pros), 4 charges apparently involving a theft in July 2008 (first offender status with 4 years probation), and a burlgary and contributing to deliquincy of a minor in Feb/2009. Great track record and I wonder why his probation was not revoked for getting in trouble when he got in trouble for the burglary? Seems like he did not learn his lesson. but he stays on the street, What does he have to do to be kept in jail, MURDER SOMEONE oh thats right he was involved in this murder

You know I have an idea. We

You know I have an idea. We are unloading Gitmo and the place has accomidations for literally thousands of prisoners. Why not seperate it into 50 quadrants of barbed wire enclosures and send all killers there. No more court oversight no more weight lifting, no visitors and no more tax lawyers and no appeals, no more scholarships, minimum medical care (kinda brother heal thyself) and make them grow their own food. A perfect place.
