The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two men in connection with the shooting death early today of 16-year old Brandon Desean Taylor.

Brandon Ira Le’Keith Helm, 18, of Warwick Place in Hephzibah, and Darian Deandre Postell, 19, of Thames Place in Hephzibah are charged with one count each of murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, sheriff's Lt. Scott Peebles said. Both men are being held at the Richmond County jail without bond.

The incident is believed to have resulted from an altercation Monday evening in which Helm and another man were shot at while walking through Pepperidge subdivision. No one was hit, but it is believed that Helm, who is identified as the shooter, was retaliating against Taylor. Postell is believed to have accompanied Helm to the incident location and disposed of the weapon afterward.

The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are possible, Peebles said.

The shooting happened at 2:16 a.m. at a home at 3411 Monte Carlo Drive in the subdivision near Peach Orchard Road, police said.

The fatal shooting was the second this week. On Sunday 22-year-old Sergio Campbell was shot multiple times outside the McDonald’s at 2624 Deans Bridge Road.

Four people were arrested in connection with that fatal shooting and more arrests are expected to follow, according to investigators.

Cobalt, people that do that

Cobalt, people that do that are way past the help of the Army. They don't respect anybody's authority, 20 pushups isn't going to change them.

If this was a case of one gang member killing another, then the only sad part is that they all didn't kill each other...yet.

When you raise a child in an

When you raise a child in an atmosphere of violent behavior; when you allow a child to view videos and hear songs that glorify and glamorize criminal behavior; when you raise a child in an atmosphere where it is normal and acceptable for family members to be in prison; where personal responsibility and self-sufficiency is not taught, but where everything is excused because of "prejudice" or "skin color" and the government is supposed to provide for people; you will raise a criminal. That is one thing that too many parents are doing too well.

When you raise a child in an atmosphere where teenagers have babies and are rewarded for it; when you raise a child in a culture where marriage and stability are not emphasized, but parents have a revolving door of partners; you will raise a child that has no morals, scruples, or standards of behavior.

Corgimom, My 5:55 post and

Corgimom, My 5:55 post and disssman 5:59 were directed toward the children that have not crossed the line of no return. Yes, there are those that have that suicidal mentality and have cross the line of future destruction with no respect for authority, they are the ones that have to be eradicated to prevent educating the ones that still can be saved. Once they have been removed than the remaining children have a better chance to make it in todays sociality. Gangs are formed the same way good social clubs are formed, "Recruitment"

Cobalt, have you ever lived

Cobalt, have you ever lived in that atmosphere? No. I have. Those kids are surrounded by gangs, every minute of every day, and children learn what they live, and live what they learn. They will either become a gang member, have children with a gang member, or have a close relative that's a gang member. Gangs are normal to them. Very few can escape it. It just perpetuates, over and over again.

Corgimom, both of your posted

Corgimom, both of your posted opinions are 100% correct except there are still some of those who were born and have lived in those environments have made it to be outstanding, productive citizens. More education has to be given for those unfortunates to black out that upbringing and only support from both cultures can this succeed.

I haven't read all of the

I haven't read all of the posts but I can best believe that most of the homes in that specific area of peppridge is section 8. I was a homeowner near there. The whole street became section 8 at least 70%. After a couple of burglaries to my own home and lack of cooperation from the authorities because it was believed and known to be juveniles and kids not in school, I am out of there. I miss it but I don't miss living in fear. Augusta has to get a grip on foreclosed and rental homes and not caring what it takes to keep these homes occupied. It does prevent vandalism but it is sickening to the homeowners that live a moral life there and cannot even trust their kids to go out and play.

hopeful, the public schools I attended had tremendous control of the students without the use of law enforcement officers. We obeyed what our teachers told us to do. How old are you? We had respect for authority and our elders. And kids brought guns to school all of the time in their gun racks in their trucks.

Corgimom, you may be totally

Corgimom, you may be totally correct but I get the feeling that you think all Backs are bad. As you know I am a white retired military citizen and I have seen many from the environment you described and they were dam good men. Thank God that I have never lived in conditions you have described. Don't get me wrong, I hate criminals White/Black or what ever to a point of using what I pack without shedding a tear. Thank God that I have never lived in conditions you have described.

I'm doing a LOT of positive things for my 'self esteem' KSL. And being nice to the space cadets on here I do not care for is NOT one of them. Now why don't you post your 8:58 to everyone on here. That's the nature of these threads KSL. Get a hold of yourself. You act like this is your first rodeo with the AC and it's goings on

It still a dirty shame that this 16 year old was recruited into a gang and payed for it by his life. I still say the parents must have been aware of the situation, maybe they did and didn't care. So Sad.

yelyah 2:19 post. I know

yelyah 2:19 post. I know about both counties and cc does not tolerate a whole lot and they strongly discipline the students at the parents sake. Richmond on the other hand sugar coats everything because the parents come into the schools being volitile and get away with it.

Without disclosing who I am, I have been in every court room for 246 murder cases in the CSRA judical system for over a 3 year period. I can tell you about the love, hate and the destruction of many families. It was never pretty and there was always a different reason for each case.

Corgimom 8:43 post. Who

Corgimom 8:43 post. Who exactly is she describing grow up like that? I don't think it applies to the incident. I used to know somebody who lived in Pepperidge. The young man lived in Pepperidge. Pepperidge is a solid middle class neighborhood. The driveways have 2 or 3 cars parked in the yard. The neighborhood has a good number of military families. Or does she think the shooters may come from one of those environments. Or does she just not know what she's talking about. She's assuming there from poor areas.
