The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two men in connection with the shooting death early today of 16-year old Brandon Desean Taylor.

Brandon Ira Le’Keith Helm, 18, of Warwick Place in Hephzibah, and Darian Deandre Postell, 19, of Thames Place in Hephzibah are charged with one count each of murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, sheriff's Lt. Scott Peebles said. Both men are being held at the Richmond County jail without bond.

The incident is believed to have resulted from an altercation Monday evening in which Helm and another man were shot at while walking through Pepperidge subdivision. No one was hit, but it is believed that Helm, who is identified as the shooter, was retaliating against Taylor. Postell is believed to have accompanied Helm to the incident location and disposed of the weapon afterward.

The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are possible, Peebles said.

The shooting happened at 2:16 a.m. at a home at 3411 Monte Carlo Drive in the subdivision near Peach Orchard Road, police said.

The fatal shooting was the second this week. On Sunday 22-year-old Sergio Campbell was shot multiple times outside the McDonald’s at 2624 Deans Bridge Road.

Four people were arrested in connection with that fatal shooting and more arrests are expected to follow, according to investigators.

dominonfs haven't you got

dominonfs haven't you got into arguements with people before. Everybody in america has gotten into a argument at some point in their life. But you want to blame the young man for somebody shooting him. The article doesn't say anywhere he was a gang banger. It's sad to say but alot of the comments do come down to race on here. All you have to do is look at comments on Richmond and Columbia county schools. They usually come down to race. I guess Aiken is thought as mixed in the minds of racist and the prejudice on here.

My condolences to the family.

My condolences to the family. It's funny how a camouflaged clad killer murders eight people and don't receive much commentary. Then if something happen in South Augusta or on East Boundary it gets plenty of commentary. Some of you folks need to have a heart. I see Marshcroaked aka PTHS is still here perpetuating his hate and highmindedness. You're a sad excuse for humanity.

The poor inner-city high

The poor inner-city high schools Josey and Laney hurt Richmond county in graduation rates. Columbia county is 82% to Richmond county 71%. To be honest Davidson and AR Johnson are better than any high school in Columbia county. Lakeside in CC is the next best. Then Westside and ARC in richmond county are basically the same as Greenbriar in CC. Evans, Hephzibah and Cross Creek would be next. Butler and Grovetown are not bad but not really good either. They're just okay schools.

Everything got crazy when

Everything got crazy when they took God out of school and when they stopped wanting parents to discipline their kids. When I was 16, my mama would have whooped my --- for coming in past 8 o'clock. Nowadays you can't discipline your kids without it being child abuse. We need to go back to yesterdays way of discipline and clean things up. Kids of today are supposed to be the future of tomorrow - but it's not looking too good so far.

The schools tell the kids

The schools tell the kids they evolved from animals and then they act like it. Why is anyone surprised. For every void left by pushing God out the devil fills it up with his demons.
Posted by soldout on Tue Jan 26, 2010 10:34 AM --- Ridiculous. Christianity has nothing to do with it other than the fact that Christians have been the most violent, oppressive, murderous cult to ever walk the Earth. If you want Christianity in schools then send your children to private Christian schools.

dominionfs, I think you are a

dominionfs, I think you are a racist and a pig but hey, at least on this blog we know exactly what we are going to get from you when the story line pertains to an African American person. I really wish I knew who you were because the very thought of you having an influence on the lives of others, be it business, educational, or heck medical and financial, is a scary thought. But then again, you're probably some unemployed hate monger who sits in the library using the free computer because you can't afford your own, hiding behind your little screen spewing hate. COWARD! Pray for this family and the RCSO that they find these clowns who committed such an evil act.

Why are these useless killing

Why are these useless killing happening. Not all parents Black/White are bad. I say a majority of them love their offsprings and try their best to make them productive and to have a decent life. Is it just maybe the peer factor and enviroment that they are exposed too have an overriding foot hold. Many of these victims just may have had good dreams of the future. I may be wrong, but my old common sense tells me different.

Well-said CobaltGeorge! To

Well-said CobaltGeorge! To the poster who mentioned loud music and dark tint, those things don't contribute to a person being a criminal nor a delinquent. I happen to think that cars look better with tint on the windows and they serve a great purpose of shielding you when you are picking your nose!

My son goes to Westside,

My son goes to Westside, where they have canceled all sports practices this afternoon [without explanation]. Rumor has it, the practices were canceled in relation to this shooting, and the shooting was in relation to the former Westside student getting shot recently.

MominRC, that is why people need to talk to their kids now, today, they are upset and telling everything they know or heard right now. Mine talked from the time he walked in the house for about 45min to an hour without prompting about this.

You can very will bet there

You can very will bet there are a lot of kids that know about this shooting from begining to end. They talk to each other more than they would their parents. So sad.

Deerhunyer as an example of

Deerhunyer as an example of what I was talking about. Yoday I went to the IGA at around 1:00 P.M. I had never been there before and found it a very nice store. As I got into my car, here it came. Jacked up on bicycle tires that probably cost around 5 Grand, it was painted for probably another couple of Grand, and a stereo that cost a few more Grand from the noise it was making. Well if I can tell a gang banging buggy why can't the police. I would give you odds and bet the little drug dealer had some residue in that car. BTW when a car with thousands of dollars in modifications is being driven by someone without a job (I see this punk all the time) I think it is time to shut him down. P.S. I think the law needs to be changed to allow confiscation of any vehicle found with drugs period. Same with drunk driving, take the DA@@ car and sell it.

Let try to keep the story straight and I think personally your entitlement check comment is over the line at this minute. (or do you know this family an can verifiy the grieving) Don"t get me wrong I am not supporting what happened but a lot of comments are not justified.

yelyah ...... why do you

yelyah ...... why do you think that an "old white person's opinion" doesn't matter? In my opinion, everyone's opinion is important. And KSL ...... even though the students were in school they were not getting any education today, they sat in the same classroom all day rather than go to their normal classes. And baronvonreich ...... I found yelyah's post easy to understand where he was coming from and well written. We all make minor errors when typing here.
