The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two men in connection with the shooting death early today of 16-year old Brandon Desean Taylor.

Brandon Ira Le’Keith Helm, 18, of Warwick Place in Hephzibah, and Darian Deandre Postell, 19, of Thames Place in Hephzibah are charged with one count each of murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, sheriff's Lt. Scott Peebles said. Both men are being held at the Richmond County jail without bond.

The incident is believed to have resulted from an altercation Monday evening in which Helm and another man were shot at while walking through Pepperidge subdivision. No one was hit, but it is believed that Helm, who is identified as the shooter, was retaliating against Taylor. Postell is believed to have accompanied Helm to the incident location and disposed of the weapon afterward.

The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are possible, Peebles said.

The shooting happened at 2:16 a.m. at a home at 3411 Monte Carlo Drive in the subdivision near Peach Orchard Road, police said.

The fatal shooting was the second this week. On Sunday 22-year-old Sergio Campbell was shot multiple times outside the McDonald’s at 2624 Deans Bridge Road.

Four people were arrested in connection with that fatal shooting and more arrests are expected to follow, according to investigators.

The really sad thing is how insensitive we are becoming to this type of event. Who would have thought these tragic events would become routine? Something has to give.

i haven't conceded to

i haven't conceded to anything dissman. But pulling someone over for loud music and searching their vehicles will not curb gang violence in the city. In fact, i'm not sure if that gives an officer probable cause to even search a vehicle. If the city of augusta wants to lower its crime the RCSD will have to look to people like William Bratton, the former Police Chief of Los Angeles. He helped lower gang violence significantly in LA and lowered Crime in New York City. Its obvious that our local government is corrupt. The whole city needs to be cleaned up.

Not too many years ago when a

Not too many years ago when a young person died that was in school, the school and counseling would set time aside too talk to the students about the incident and kind of get their feelings and offer good sound adult advice to keep things from escalating. They may most often found out things during these times that could be turned over to the police. Is this still being done? I see a number of Butler High students have commented on WRDW's site and they sound like they are really hurting.

hopeful - your comment makes

hopeful - your comment makes more sense than all the babbling that has taken place until now - YES - get the schools and adults involved - maybe something good may come out of this (and any future tragedy - God forbid!) if the young people are alerted to the facts of life and most of all the consequences. There HAS to be a light at the end of this tunnel!!!
There may be some smart comment following this - go ahead and enjoy yourself.

My heart goes out to this

My heart goes out to this young man's family. I don't understand. This young man needed to be in the bed this time of morning. Parents are letting their children have too much free time on their hands. Discipline must get back into the home. If my mother knew when I was sixteen that I wasn't in the bed on a school night, I might have been shot by her!

When I was 16, I often hung out with my friends until the wee hours, often past sunrise. Back then, there weren't groups of cowards running around armed.

WRDW reported it started over

WRDW reported it started over an arguement. Friends taking up for friends before a fight happen. That's far from being gang-related. There wasn't any drive by and shooting at his home either. There were one or two shots fired. The person knocked on his bedroom window and when he look out the window they fired shots. I try to tell kids you can't agure with some teenagers these days. They don't just fight and walk away like we use to growing up. Ask the teenager from Evans who was shot at recently. Supposedly it was gang realted too. He got shot at coming out a home near Old Evans road.

Whats the problem? Another worthless gang-banger dead and hopefully a couple more on their way to the pen soon. Now, if we could just find a way to stop this human garbage from breeding we might be getting somewhere. And no, this ain't a black thing...It's a quality thing. Garbage comes in all colors.

Someone knows who he was

Someone knows who he was argueing with. They know who called him that night also. Parents, talk to your kids about this, get information, lets get involved and stop this mess. We are in a transient society, find out who your child knows and sit and talk with them. See where their heads are. Sit in your livingroom and see who comes through your door, follow your teen to the door and to the waiting car. I am a loving nag. I do not want to get that call that two more parents have gotten this week. This may not prevent it but we have to change up. the kids have changed. I am in no way blaming the parents on these recent incidents. I am making suggestions to help cut down on future violence. Another thing, we know there are goings on in the community right now, keep your kids at home for a few evenings, Tell them you don't want them hanging out right now and why, they will appreciate it even when they grumble.

"Where are the parents? Where

"Where are the parents? Where are the parents? Where are the parents?" I'm so sick of reading that on these blogs. Don't you people know that most kids today come from either broken or mixed family or no family homes? and a large percentage raised in the grandparents home? The 1940s are long over. What is SHOCKING and ODD in 2010 is when a child has both their biological mother and father at home and neither one of them are sleeping with man/woman next door.

No dominionfs, its another mothers child dead!! Another parent burying their child. Another incident that goes against the natural order of things. Parents are not supposed to have to bury their children. I will refrain from any further comment to you, no matter how BAD I want to!!! How's that for control folks!

dominionfs honestly i think

dominionfs honestly i think you should be ashamed of yourself.
I attend butler high school with this young man and I am in the class room right now posting this. He was not just another gang banger. And you are prolly old and white the type of person whos opinon doesnt make any of a difference. For you to know,he was at home. His mother was at home. Let someone come up to your window, would you know? Some of what you people are saying is pathetic and sad. I am only 16 and I have a better mind set then any of you. I am a White junior and Brandon was funny and nice, he was not a gang banger and he certinly did not act as though he was in any gang. Obviously he might have been but he didnt flaunt it and he didnt act ghetto. Try and have respect and pray for him and his family rather then downing the situation. I know its richmond county and nothing can be good over here but I ust to go to coloumbia county schools and honestly were ever you go things are the damn same. the color of skin is just different. You mean to tell me all the white kids over there that I used to know dont do drugs, sleep around and skip school? You know white people have gangs too, Dont judge because of skin.

Haven't you figured it out

Haven't you figured it out yet cracker? Anything I do is not my fault, it is my parents, the school, the police, the system, the government. Heck, I am just an angel misunderstood by society at large. Bullblisters. We need to hold people accountable for their own actions. This fool is dead because of the decisions he made.

Every kid can have a bad home life or bad things happen to them. So get a grip, get over it. It wasnt your kid so that is whymost of you have negative things to say. It is super low
