A postman reported seeing smoke coming from a two-story brick home at 4184 Knollcrest Circle in the Springlakes subdivision at about 12:15 p.m.

The homeowners were not home at the time of the fire.

The blaze began in the garage, but fire officials are still investigating the cause, said Martinez-Columbia Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Jimmie Paschal.
