Father catches boys in daughters' room, makes them pray

  • Follow Latest News

SYLVANIA, Ga. – A Screven County father who found two young men hiding in the bathroom of his house held them at gunpoint and made them pray aloud until deputies arrived and arrested them on charges of criminal trespass.

Screven County Sheriff Mike Kile said the man’s daughters, age 14 and 17, invited the young men to the house last week.

“Daddy held them at gunpoint and told them to pray and they did,” Kile said. “He told them to pray louder and they did.”

Charged Jan. 12 were Larnell Andre Gholson, 19, and Jeremy L. Wiles, 20.

The young men said they didn’t know one of the girls was so young, but they did know they should have gotten the father’s permission to be in the residence.

The sheriff said he was glad no one was hurt.

“He was trying to protect the girls,” Kile said. “It worked very, very well.“

The girls ran the water in the shower to make their father think nothing was awry, the sheriff said, but the ploy didn’t work.

“He knew they didn’t take showers that long,” he said.

The lesson learned?

“Don’t bring boys over without your daddy knowing,” Kile said. “Daddies can come home early and get really mad when their daughters’ honor is at stake.”

Puddin, they were trespassing

Puddin, they were trespassing he has every right to hold them at gunpoint. For all he knows they could have been rapist you never know in these situations. To bad for his daughters who are most likely grounded for life for breaking the old man's trust.

The young men were wrong, but

The young men were wrong, but what about the girls. They share some blame in this. The 17 year-old probably looked 20 and the 14 looked 17. Come on who has not seem girls fully developed at 12 and 13. A 17 year-old can be charged as an adult in most things, so if she invited the men over were they really trespassing? How hard did he make the girls pray and I bet this was not the first time. Our little angels are not angels anymore and many girls do not have any honor to uphold. This is why girls and boys sneak and do things because as adults, we lose it instead of thinking rationally and finding fault in all parties. These girls are not innocent trust me.

Um, no offense, but first the

Um, no offense, but first the Chronicle posts some story about some psycho who wants to create his own basketball league of white guys but then follows it up with this story about some hicks down in south Georgia doing things the old fashioned way? The first story is comprised of the delusions of a racist jerk and the second story is completely irrelevant to people who live here.

LawPig, it may be irrelevant

LawPig, it may be irrelevant to people who live here, but it sure is entertaining. I for one am glad the AC ran this story, and I hope parents of sons read it to their children. What a great way to handle stupid boys. Scare they daylights out of 'em and make 'em pray fro help and mercy. This is a dad after my own heart. Good on him.

They were invited over there.

They were invited over there. Instead of blaming the boys and holding them at gunpoint, he needs to be concerned about the behavior of his two daughters, and making plans to become a grandfather- because that's just a matter of time. My parents would've killed me if I had done something like that. And the father knew his daughters did it intentionally- rapists don't turn on the shower. "A dad after my own heart"? Um, no. And it wasn't the first time the girls had done something like that, their honor is long gone.

Now, just because the article

Now, just because the article doesn't say the girls were punished, I have no doubt their social life has been squelched. If Daddy pulls a gun on the boys, I'm sure he has handled the girls as well. As the mother of a daughter, I say way to go Dad!!!

I would think that the boys

I would think that the boys would not have to be MADE to pray with an irate father holding a gun on them. The girls need some serious talking to and punishment.

I wouldn't have had to worry

I wouldn't have had to worry about a social life ever again. Because I would've been dead. And the time for talking to them is long past- the father lost that battle a long time ago. What terrible disrespect- to pull that stuff right in his face.

As a father I applaud this

As a father I applaud this man.I am behind him 100%. I think he did the best thing possible in this situation. I would not have had as much restraint. I am sure the outcome would have been VERY different at my home. These boys are lucky they were in a home in Screven county and not in my home.

With this sneaking around

With this sneaking around going on, I have to think that it won't be long before these young girls get themselves pregnant! They think they're smarter than their father, but it didn't work this time...but what about the times that it DID work?? Gotta agree with ladygrad. Boys are just so stupid at this age, and they weren't thinking with their head...well, not the head on top of their neck, anyway!

KSL, would have ever- EVER-

KSL, would have ever- EVER- invited a man over to your home when you were 14, and proceed to sneak him in with the father RIGHT THERE? What would your father have done if, at 14, you were running with a 19 or 20 year old man? That man has way bigger problems than with his daughters' honor. That's gone.
