WASHINGTON — Speaker Nancy Pelosi says she lacks the votes to push the Senate's sweeping health overhaul bill through the House, a potentially devastating blow to President Barack Obama's signature issue.

The California Democrat made the comment to reporters today after House Democrats held a closed-door meeting at which participants vented frustration with the massive version of the legislation.

Pelosi said, "In its present form without any changes I don't think it's possible to pass the Senate bill in the House. ... I don't see the votes for it at this time." Many House Democrats, reeling from their loss of the Massachusetts Senate seat in this week's special election, want the party to pursue a more modest health bill.

Sunnyday ... it's not stopped

Sunnyday ... it's not stopped yet. Obama is busy repackaging a stripped down version of the plan, inorder to get his foot in the door. The Stripped down version is still based on the lie that the insurance companies have caused all the problem, so they must be regulated.

Pay close attention and don't

Pay close attention and don't believe what Obama says. We have tons of proof that he lies. He has admitted that he needs to regroup and change the way he presents it. He's still a snake in the grass and he still wants what Americans have rejected.

Hey WillieJoe, we can do

Hey WillieJoe, we can do without the expletive deletives, but do you honestly think this is an issue of selfishness? You couldn't be further from the truth. First of all, the government will eventually provide some form of healthcare for those presently not covered, but where do you think the money will come from? It will come from the pockets for those least able to afford it, in the form of increased taxes. If you think "Uncle Sugar" is going to get away with taxing the wealthiest among us, think again. Your government is among the wealthiest among us, and do you think they’re going to raise their own taxes? Balderdash! :o(
