NORTH AUGUSTA – Authorities have arrested a North Augusta teen wanted in a December armed robbery.

North Augusta Department of Public Safety charged David Leeshawn Smith, 17, of Conifer Court, with grand larceny and armed robbery Tuesday, according to jail records.

Smith is accused of robbing an acquaintance at gunpoint on Dec. 20, according to an incident report. Police believe that Smith rummaged through the victim's apartment and stole a cell phone, tennis shoes and other items, according to the incident report. He also left the scene in the victim’s 1984 Pontiac Bonneville. The vehicle was later recovered in Augusta.

He remains at the Aiken County Detention Center.

Robbing an acquaintance, then stealing his car. Must have been to far to walk to rob someone who didn't know him! The acquaintance is lucky to be alive.
