Insurance commissioner's hunting party hit by shot

  • Follow Latest News

ATLANTA — A spokesman for John Oxendine's gubernatorial campaign says a member of the state insurance commissioner's hunting party was sprayed by shot when a shotgun accidentally discharged.

Campaign spokesman David Crim says Oxendine was hunting with his sons on Sunday at a quail hunting preserve in northwest Georgia when the accident occurred and someone was slightly wounded.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Crim says Oxendine was neither the shooter nor the person who was shot.

Department of Natural Resources spokeswoman Robin Hill says the department is investigating.

Crim said neither Oxendine nor his sons had hunting licenses, but did not need them because they were hunting on a licensed quail preserve.

This will be interesting.

This will be interesting. Based on their not having hunting licenses, wonder if they have but weren't in possession of them at the time or if they don't have at all. Relevant because hunter safety training is required to obtain a license. So if Ox and/or the boys aren't "real hunters" with licenses but just decided to go to one of these pay to shoot pen-raised bird places, maybe some untrained person fired a round inappropriately. Hummmm ...

Is that really the point,

Is that really the point, whether they had or needed hunting licenses? IT seems to me that the REAL point is that someone was SHOT, hopefully not seriously injured.
