Man charged with breaking Broad Street windows

  • Follow Latest News

Police arrested an Aiken man Sunday after witnesses said they saw him vandalizing Broad Street businesses by breaking a number of storefront windows.

According to Richmond County jail records, Jeremy James Pittman, 23, of the 900 block of Kedron Church Road, Aiken, was charged with six misdemeanor counts of criminal trespass.

A Richmond County sheriff’s report states that about 2:50 a.m. deputies responded to the 700 block of Broad Street. A witness told officers of the vandal, who had gotten into a blue vehicle and driven east.

Police found the vehicle and arrested Mr. Pittman, who admitted he had broken out the windows by kicking them.

The vandalized businesses included Harley and Associates Architects at 718 Broad St., Kim’s Snack Shop at 744 Broad St., Wireless Phone Shop at 754 Broad St., and three vacant buildings at 750, 820 and 834 Broad St.

This young man needs to be taken to the wood shed for a good whipping and then needs to be taken to church and learn about Christ and stop wasting his life getting into trouble. He is young and has time to straighten himself out - I hope he will get a grip and do what he needs to do!

I do believe Ivey called him

I do believe Ivey called him a young man, not a kid. Just because he's 23 doesn't mean he's a MAN and kicking in windows and destroying property IS chidish. Hopefully he gets straightened out before he moves on to worse things.

"and then needs to be taken to church and learn about Christ" Why do you think that he doesn't know about Christ? Do you think that he doesn't know right from wrong at age 23?

Corgimom, if your comment was

Corgimom, if your comment was directed towards me, I made no comment on him going to church. It's not my place to say he does or doesn't know about Christ. I guess Ivey figured if he got into church he would learn some manners, although I'm sure he knew it was wrong to kick in all those windows. At 23 I consider him an adult but he sure isn't a MAN. If your comment was not directed to me, disregard my response.

Do we have any patrols downtown? I guess we could have hired a few more police for the money we spent on studies to show how wonderful the broaf street area is.

He is 23 years old, his parents shouldn't figure into this. At this point he is old enough to have already entered military service and been discharged or completed a college degree. Who knows maybe he already has done both. But whatever the reason he decided to vandalize downtown businesses and not in his hometown. He should be dealt with quickly and the punishment should be severe so that next time he thinks about misbehaving the pain of the punishment will serve as a deterent.

And by the way "ROTFLMAO"? You're amused by the word "giggle"? I get it now - you're just a simple minded little troublemaker that only gets attention by being obtuse on message boards. Good luck with the warts or whatever is burning your crotch and making you act like such an @**hole.
