Broad Street business closing at the end of January

Cloud Nine Natural announced today that it will close its doors by Jan. 31.

Starting Thursday, the retailer at 1036 Broad St. will sell all remaining inventory, fixtures, furniture, displays, decorating and business-related items through the end of the month.

Cloud Nine Natural, which has been in business for eight years, sells in-store handmade natural soaps and skin care products.

“The decision to shutter Cloud Nine was difficult, but necessary,” said owner and operator Carless Gay in a release.

Mr. Gay plans to wholesale his brand of soap and lotions, offer private labeling and sell his products online, stating that “it will be easier to keep up with production demands.” He hopes to find retail stores in Augusta to retail the Cloud Nine products.

“Without my store competing, someone could do very well retailing these products in the CSRA,” he said.
