Frederick Lee Singletary Jr., 30, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, possession of a knife during the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to Richmond County Jail records. He was arrested Wednesday.
Mr. Singetary allegedly shot at a man and woman who were talking outside his motel room at Augusta Super Inn at 1602 Gordon Highway, according to investigators. A woman was shot once in the foot, while a man narrowly missed the bullet when it passed trough his baggy shorts.
Mr. Singletary had a prior conviction of second-degree murder in Miami, Fla., according to Florida Department of Corrections documents. He served five years and 11 months of a seven-year sentence before his released in May 2005.
