Woman robbed behind Kmart

A 40-year-old Wagener woman told police she was robbed at gunpoint by a man after she gave him a ride in Augusta on Saturday afternoon.

According to a Richmond County sheriff’s report, the woman told officers she was driving along Lumpkin Road when a man flagged her down and asked her for a ride to the Kmart on Gordon Highway. When they arrived at Kmart, the man told the woman he wanted to be dropped off in the rear of the business. After the woman drove around behind the store, the man pulled a black handgun, pointed it at her and demanded that she empty her pockets. The woman gave the man $20 and a cell phone worth $200.

The robber fled on foot.
