Richmond County sheriff’s Investigator William Leisey said Nicholas Nathaniel Johnson, 20, was arrested after deputies responded to a suspicious situation at the Heritage Apartments off Jackson Road about 2 a.m. today. When deputies arrived, a group of people inside a vehicle fled on foot. The officers were able to apprehend everyone inside the vehicle, and one of them was identified as Mr. Johnson, Investigator Leisey said.

The shooting occurred when two rival groups began exchanging gunfire, according to an article in The Augusta Chronicle. Tremayne Cobbs was killed when he was struck by a stray bullet. Two other men were wounded.

Mr. Johnson is charged with murder, two counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to jail records.

Our law enforcement needs to

Our law enforcement needs to be congratulated - they don't let go until they find their man. They are doing a wonderful job and we should thank them every day for all the efforts they are making and the success they have.
Thank you, God bless you, and may the New Year bring less crime (one can wish!!!)
