Shooting victim is identified

Tony Darryl Collier, sought as a person of interest in the shooting death of an Augusta man Tuesday morning.

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office has identified a man found shot to death early this morning at a boarding house in Augusta.

Deputies were called to 1631 Cleveland St. about 1:55 a.m. and found Henry "Mendez" Stokes, 37, of that address.

The victim had been shot at least once and was dead, according to a news release from Lt. Scott Peebles, of the Violent Crimes Division.

The location and number of wounds were being withheld.

The motive for the homicide is believed to be a drug-related robbery, Lt. Peebles stated.
