The victim in the shooting on Augusta's Sixth Avenue this morning has been tentatively identified as Charles Rodriquez Harris, 41, with no known address.

The Richmond County Coroner’s Office, it is trying to notify any next of kin of Mr. Harris. Arrest records indicate that he might also have been known as Marquet Jones.

Coroner Grover Tuten said an autopsy found that the victim died of a gunshot wound to the back and abdomen.

Anyone who knows a family member of Mr. Harris (Jones) is asked to call the Coroner’s Office at 706 821-2382.

Sheriff's Lt. Scott Peebles said the victim was shot as he tried to break into a home in the 1000 block of Sixth Avenue shortly after 9 a.m.

Police questioned and released a person in connection with the incident.

Could be the guy that did the

Could be the guy that did the shooting had already broken into the house and thought the second guy breaking in was the home owner. Just a guess...but more than likely like onebadcatdog said...the shooter might have had warrants and didn't want to be found out.

That was my suspicion. Same suspicion I had when a neighbor was freaking out that and claiming someone she knew lived a few streets over had broken in her house, wanted to prove it, complained about the broken door and no finger-printing done, but also claimed nothing was stolen. Yeah right. She just couldn't admit what had been stolen is my educated guess. Then she asks me over and hands me part of the broken door and says here, look at this. I put my hands behind my back and said I could see it just fine, I don't need to hold it. She was obviously trying to get MY fingerprints on it to blame me for the break-in, since she couldn't prove the other person did it. Unbelievable.

Slowly the window slid up in

Slowly the window slid up in the frame. "These folks won't now what hit'em until I am standing over them like the very Devil himself, fresh out of hel!", thought the burglar as he made his way through the open window. In that next instant, nine 32 caliber pellets of 00 Buckshot tore through his chest cavity faster than the speed of sound, ripping out vital organs on their journey. Blood splattered the dingy wall as if thrown out of a bucket and the life ebbed from the burglars devastated body.
