Special meeting Tuesday reviews Columbia County's budget

  • Follow Latest News

Columbia County commissioners will meet Tuesday morning to discuss the budget. The meeting will provide officials an opportunity to conduct a “State of the Budget Address,” said county Deputy Administrator Scott Johnson.

Proposed budget cuts might be included as part of the discussion, Mr. Johnson said.

During the year, Columbia County has faced dwindling sales tax revenues and has streamlined or consolidated numerous government departments in a effort to save payroll expenses.

The special-called meeting will be held at 8 a.m. in the auditorium of the Evans Government Center, 630 Ronald Reagan Drive, Evans.

Why is CC going through

Why is CC going through budget cuts, while county "executives" approved themselves a raise for 2010? Our local gov is starting to mirror our national leaders. Tax revenues are down in CC, so there's no justification for 2% raises. I guess the fat cats keep getting fatter while everyone else tightens our belts.
