Augusta Canal center to close for holiday

The Augusta Canal Interpretive Center will close Thursday and Friday in observance of Christmas, but both the center and the Petersburg Boat canal tours will have a normal winter schedule on Saturday.

During the following week, the center and boat tours will be closed Sunday and Monday, Dec. 27-28; and on Friday, Jan. 1, 2010.

After the holidays, regular winter hours will remain in effect through March 31. Those hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, with one-hour Petersburg Boat tours available at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 and 3:00 p.m., weather permitting.

The Interpretive Center is located at 1450 Greene Street in Enterprise Mill. Call 706-823-0440, ext. 4, for information and reservations.
