ANDERSON, S.C. — A 79-year-old South Carolina man who fell while unloading a riding lawn mower at his home has died.

Multiple media outlets report Jim Caldwell of Anderson County died at a Greenville hospital on Thursday of head trauma, a day after the accident.

Neighbors said Caldwell had picked up the John Deere mower from an Anderson repair shop and was preparing to unload it at his home in a community bordering Lake Hartwell.

Rescue Squad Chief Bryan Martin said Caldwell fell and hit his head when the mower slipped from the trailer.
